looking for places to catfish

I live near baton rouge and I am looking for some to go catfishing. I have a boat but with gas prices I need to stay close.

Welcome to the BOC. We fish downstream on the Mississippi River about 20 miles downstream. We have fished downtown and near the grain elevator accross the river with limited success. There is a ramp just south of the Casino nearly under the I10 bridge. We don't have a ramp where we go but go down the side of th levee. If your boat is very large you will likely need a 4WD there. We go about 2.5 downstream in the boat and normally don't move much. Take a peak at some of the posts on the BR thread to see how we do. Glad to see we have a little more interest in BR.

You are right about my artwork, but the ability to catch catfish is UNMATCHED by anyone who can't even find a place to catfish in the largest state in the nation!!!

Henderson lake is not far from you, look it up and check it out. It has great places to find cats all over it.

Try and make a drive up to Jackson, MS soon while the water is flowing good. Go to the south end of the resevoir and you'll find a huge dam. No need for a boat. Surf rods and big pieces of cut shad is all you need to have a lot of fun. I caught several 70lb. + fish there last spring. It's only a 2 1/2 hr drive. Pretty scenery too.
