According to the lake website they are projecting .10" rise per day. Seems like it was later than this in the past that they raised the lake. I hope this gets those cats going, but unfortunately it looks like winter type weather is back with us for a few days.

I noticed their forcast showed it going up the next couple days.I'm not sure if they're ready to start filling it back up or if it's because they are generating some power at Truman. It may just be temporary,it seems a little early yet compared to the past.

Well the weather is supposed to be heading back down below freezing within the next few nights.Maybe snow Tuesday.I guess I'm to blame, with the spring weather a few days ago I thought we were in the clear and went and shaved off my winter beard.LOL!!! That's just like washing the car and causing rain.I guess I jinxed us.The old timers said St. Patty day is the day to plant taters but I'm glad I didn't and I'm glad.I mighta brought in a blizzard.Maybe I would be safer to leave the county till it warms back up. I would hate to get lynched ;)

I usually don't shave it till mid april...but my youngest grandson of 11months was spending a couple days with me.After the second or third time of him winding his little hand up in there and then pulling for all he's worth...finally with tears in my eyes and him a fist full of hair, I thought it was close enough to spring.LOL!!! I went in the bathroom and took the old shears and then razor to it and come out.The look on his face was priceless.I think he had forgot what I looked like under there cause he didn't quite reconize Pop-Paw when I came out,it took him a few min. before he would come to me.

I hope they don't take it back when they figure out I like it here in the good ole USA and plan on staying. ;) :0a31:

Now i don't act as a go between unless im getting paid for it. You two GIRLS will just have to talk to each other!...lol

Critter, they may take it back now that they figured out your not leaveing. Might even fine you!

Man them lil ones don't pull that hard. Mines favorite game was grab a handfull of beard and tug. Still is at 8 years of age...lol
Ill have to shave or at least trim mine before to long for the Spring Hunter Safety classes. But 'I' at least have enough sense to wait untill it stays warm!:p
Got to get a haircut to i guess, it's down on my shoulders now.

Itch, don't be egging him on and congradulateing him. You'll have him makeing all kinds of outlandish statements trying for another award!

YEA,I didn't get the haircut yet,Don't want to cause one of those spring blizzards like back in 78 or 79 whenever it was.My hair grows pretty fast,my profile pic was back in late august or early september and my hair was above my ears and pretty short but now it's past my shoulders. In my younger days it was pretty common for it to be down about the middle of my back, stayed that way about 20 years but after 40 I started keeping it pretty short in the summers but come the first frost I start thinking about hunting and cold weather and I kinda get the old Grizzly Addams look before winter is over. Maybe Ken will start talking to me again since I am still trying to prevent that blizzard LOL!!! Besides I don't think either one of us will want to turn loose of any money for an arbitrary mediator :D

Yea,it's still down at 654.18' right now. That's almost 6' below normal pool.It should start to rise in the next couple weeks but we need some rain pretty bad.

I would post water temp. but the site I usually get it from says 0 degrees right now, somehow I think that is off by about 48 or so. LOL!!

They actually dropped it a couple of feet this week. My trailer dragged the ramp when I put my boat in yesterday and a boat that had been in the water was beached and dry as a bone. One of my neighbors caught a 52lb Blue night before last I might have caught something close or thats the rumor. See ya on the water!

From my Daily observations they are running water late at night and cutting if off before the sun comes up. It's up and down on the extreme upper LOZ.

EXTREMELY LOW.. in the late afternoon. but the white and hybrids are hitting late, and some decent pan sized cats are hitting too. My neighbor is telling me that some DECENT cats are being caught between 10pm and 3AM at the truman dam on Shad heads with one gill plate cut off. ( by decent I mean 20-40 lbs) West Bledsoe Ferry side (The Station Side).. 4-6 buoys outs.. Long cast upstream, but a decent baitcaster will make it. That or add more weight and throw like hell.

I do too.We had a couple hard showers tonight but they didn't last that long.Just about dark I was coming back from Laurie and I had to pull over at 135 and J,it started raining so hard I couldn't see the end of the hood.It lasted about 2 minutes like that, then it was just a good shower. We got a good hailstorm up here about 10 or 10:30, it was beating the side of the house pretty good.

Robert the upper end has come up over a foot in the last week. Fishing should be improving once the snaggers get done. I have been catching them and was looking forward to the tournament but I'm not sure if I'm still going to do it. My wife is opening a restaurant and ice cream shop in Fristoe and we have several family things going on. There are actually two tournaments on the lake that day as one launches out of Hiawatha beach. I don't like the launch from Drake for obvious reasons. If we get some steady current than I like my chances and I'll enter for sure. If not I can still catch them but its tiring and catching a 20lber ain't gonna win anything. I figure Jeff and Steve are probably the frontrunners going in with Anthony's right there if the current is doing anything. I know where Jeff and Steve like to fish and I won't fish there(something about ethics). I have some spots of my own that will produce but a few days of current would sure help steady the bite. See ya on the water!

Ron the lake site is projecting a continued rise of .10 foot per day. I am sure all this rain we are getting will boost that...current on its way soon!:smile2: The cats are already biting better from the docks and banks..bigger ones finally!

Hey Ron - I talked to Steve's wife today and she had no idea there was a tournament next weekend, says Steve doesn't plan to enter it at all. That surprised me a bit.

Looks like I might reschedule my trip with Steve for this Thursday instead of the end of May. Waiting to see what happens with the rain and the spillways at the dam - won't decide till Tuesday night or so.

She also said he had been doing pretty good drifting up on Truman - something like 30+ fish a couple of days ago but nothing huge. Not bad.

I feel your pain fishingbuddy4. I'm not a distance driver and it still costs me $200 a month in gas.

Gas expensive, try living 8 hours (one way) from where you drive once a month for 8 months a year to fish. It's worth it to be at the lake. Love to hear LOZ is rising, keep us posted you guys on the lake.

Bill its coming up so fast the lake site can't even keep up..LMAO Suppose to be more rain today and tomorrow. Truman must be releasing water also for it to start coming up like this. Sure glad to see water back up in the cove behind the house again.

I always found this guage to be kind of handy. It doesn't tell you haw much water they are releasing, but looking at the chart you can sure tell when they are releasing it. A lot of times when things settle down you can spot a pattern, like releases from 4pm-11pm for several days in a row.

Robert I'm in a similar boat myself around 100 bucks to fill up the boat and their launching from Drake. I think I could win it but with me footing the entire bill it would curtail a lot of my plans for the month. So unless I get a partner to split costs I'm probably not going to fish it. I am going to talk to Steve but he may be booked up. It might be time for me to start guiding people instead of tournament fishing anyway. I would love to fish the New Madrid tourney or the Columbia tourney but I'l hesitant with my wife starting a new business venture. See ya on the water!

I don't remember the last time I saw the lake fill up so fast.It has risen about 10" a day since Friday.I was down at the ramp just before dark and I would say it's at about 658' or real close to that.I had put a stake out Friday that I was using to gauge how fast it was rising but it washed away this morning.Friday the cove by me was completly dry at the ramp as it had been since winter but tonight my neighbor launched his pontoon there,it's about 4' deep now.If it keeps up at this rate it should be at normal pool by Thursday night or Friday morning.

Now I guess it's time to take out a mortgage on the house so I can fill the boat up with gas and I'll be set.lol!!
