Fishfinder power wattage?

I have been noticing that not all finders are the same, some have a higher peak-to-peak watt power of up to 4000 then all the way down to 1500??? Even on some of the units comparably priced there is a power difference, should I be concerned with watts in buying a good finder?

Bill the more power it has the better the details it shows. Color drives the price up too. A lower powered color unitwill cost as much as a high powered black and white

Personally, power would be my top consideration when looking for a new sonar unit. Higher power gives better target separation and identification, makes it easier to "see" what's down there.

2400 watts RMS is about the minimum I'd consider, but 4000 watts RMS would be preferred. I'd take a unit with fewer bells and whistles if it meant I was getting 4000 watts.
