This
catfish hit soft. I wasn't even sure I had bait so I went to check
my bait and when I reeled wham, he took off. He went under the
buoy cable that closes off the hot water discharge cannel to
the other side of the boat and wouldn't come back. I had to put the rod and reel under the cable to get to the right side of boat to
fight, about a 7-8 minute catfish fight. |

It was early May
Seeing how we had a spring this year it was a bit chilly
heading out at 5:30am. Fishing the outgoing tide on a wing dam I like to visit.
Using a Carolina rig with a no roll sinker and an 8/0 Gama octopus circle hook with a generous chunk of cut
mackerel Free spool with clicker on and the rest is history. LOL! |

We had one of those days that don't come along too often. We boated 6 fish over 30 lbs that day. We were fishing in about 40 foot of water with a fairly heavy current. Water temp was 42 degrees that day. This is my personal best to date. |

We were fishing in about 25 foot of water over some submerged trees. Water temp this day was 42 degrees. My best fish to date. |
