Fish Tale of the Catch:
I was in my Kayak fishing the edges of the pond for Bass but had cast a 4 inch live bream out toward the deeper water. I fished the bream about 6 foot deep under a float.
I placed the rod in a rod holder behind me and continued working the shoreline. Suddenly I noticed the Kayak was moving away from the bank. When I turned around and looked at the set rod it had a nice steady bend in it.
I picked the rod up and let the circle hook do its job. After being towed around the pond for 5 or 6 minutes i got the cat near the boat and was very pleased to see the size of the fish.
I clamped my boga grip on the fish and beached the kayak so I could photograph and measure the fish.
You do NOT want to lay a flopping 16 pound catfish in your lap in a kayak.
The channel was 32 inches long, nice and fat and scaled 16 pounds. My personal best Channel cat.
It was released unharmed...I have since received a "Big Catch Certificate" from the State of Florida for the fish.
